SPEECH THERAPY SERVICES AND PROGRAMS
When an injury or illness impairs speech, swallowing, cognition and communication it is the job of a speech-language pathologist to carefully evaluate the patient to help formulate an individualized treatment plan. These plans typically include ways to use their voice for communication, develop alternative communication methods, improve reading and writing and strengthen the muscles used for swallowing. An important aspect includes the education of the primary caregiver. When a loved one loses the ability to effectively communicate their wants or needs it can create an incredible amount of stress. Our compassionate speech therapists can help to assist them better understand the situation and improve their own communication skills with the patient.
